Sip and Slip (Trailing) is our new workshop that brings a contemporary twist to a traditional technique from our cultural ceramic heritage.
Slip trailing is a historical pottery method where a liquid clay mixture—called slip—is applied to the surface of earthenware to create intricate designs and textures.
In this hands-on session, you'll create two plates and choose from four different slip trailing techniques to decorate them. No prior experience is required—just bring your creativity! This is an 18+ BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) event, so feel free to bring your favourite drink. We'll also provide hot drinks and snacks, and take some time to explore the fascinating history and origins of slip trailing.
All materials are provided. After the workshop your pieces will be bisque fired then a transparent glaze is applied and then they are fired again. You can collect your finished items from the studio in a couple of weeks or we can post them to you. (P + P extra)
In the end you’ll leave with two unique, hand-decorated pieces and a new appreciation for this timeless art form.
